The educational component of PAL consists of an after school homework club monitored by PAL Staff. If the student does not maintain a GPA of a 2.0 or better they are required to receive homework assistance in order to participate in our activities.
PAL addresses the tendency for youth in specific age groups to gravitate to drugs because of peer influence and the lack of positive role models in their lives. The New Castle County Police Department and the Police Athletic League of Delaware offers an intensive educational component and the presence of positive role models.
The PAL SWAT camp , currently held at our Garfield Park facility, focuses on young male and female development, academic achievement and self-discipline. The curriculum is designed to address and instill self-esteem and respect, the respect of others, and to promote both social and academic matriculation. Our goal is to provide participants with the means to form and find their own self excellence through education, mentoring programs, workshops and self-discipline.
